I’d love to stay at this hotel that I found through one of my favorite new blogs, Ideas to Steal. Yes, it’s in Norwegian, but the Google translation lets me get the gist of it, and the pictures speak a thousand words. I’ve wanted to go to Norway since the second grade when I discovered this gorgeous book (it’s now available used thanks to Amazon!! A few years ago when I worked at Barnes & Noble I checked but it was out of print and I was very sad. Very happy to find it today!) I credit this book as one of my main influences in design and home life at an early age. I couldn’t check it out because it was “oversized” so I would have to visit it whenever we went to the library. The childrens’ section was upstairs, but I would make a beeline for the adult art section from age 7 on up. Go figure.
This hotel, Alpine Attitude, is in Pretoria, Africa. (I admit, it reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Peter secedes and creates his own country, Petoria.) I want to go to Africa now to help build a school or a clinic, go on a safari, stay at this hotel and interview at Earthworld Architects, who designed this lovely space. It looks like everything a hotel getaway should be: relaxing, stimulating, secluded, and fun. I love their other work as well and am happy to have them now on my map!
